Hi everyone,
It has been so long since I have written anything… I am so sorry but I just have not been able to find the time to do it. Believe me I want to because this will be great for the future. To be able to go back and read about all the wonderful things that have happened to us.
I am going to do a summary of the things that have happened since the last entry.
So in January we took two trips. The first one was to Miami. Our niece turned 15 and she had a party. I left before Cesar so I could spend some time with my family in Miami. I was a little nervous about the plane ride since I was going by myself but Camila was really good. She played, colored and talked the whole way down to Miami. As she got off the plane she said “Bravo piloto” and clapped. So I had rented a car with the car seat and OMG that was an ordeal because I had no clue how to put the car seat in. Cesar had done that for us and I never learned so I spent like 45 minutes trying to do it. The Car rental people would not help because they could be liable if something happened. Finally I was able to figure it out and off we went o my brother’s house. We had a really good time and Camila was friendly and she loved the attention. We spent three days with my family and on Friday we drove to Fort Lauderdale to pick up Cesar and we stayed in Weston at a hotel with Cesar’s family. We had an awesome time. On Saturday we spent the day at the pool and we also went to have lunch with one of my cousins that lived closed by ( Enrique, Tuti and their sons). We had a really good time and again Camila felt very comfortable and behaved well!
The party was Saturday night and we had a babysitter. First time I would live her with a baby sitter. I stayed until Camila fell asleep and went to the party. We had a really good time but the whole night I was thinking of my baby. We went to pick her up around 1:30 and she never knew we left so that was good! It was a good trip and what I loved the most is that Camila was happy, enjoyed the weather, and enjoyed the family.
Our second trip was to Cancun.. OH boy did we have fun!!!! We went with Cesar’s employees, it was 8 of us and Camila. We went to an all-inclusive resort and we had a blast. Camila did not want to be out of the pool. She was scared of the ocean because it was a little rough so she would only look at it but never wanted to go in. Which was perfectly alright with me.
Everyone in the hotel knew her because the very first night we were there she was dancing the night away… everywhere we went people would make comments on how cute she was, a very good dancer, etc… and of course we were loving it and she did too.. Loved the attention. We were there for 6 days and we just did not want to come back. It was an awesome vacation!!!
I will post pictures later on..
Ok so then February came and I started working on February 13th. That first week was hard, and yes I cried and cried. It was good that we had started taking her to day care part time because I the transition was easier but she was still crying. I think she cried for about 3 weeks and then it was fine. I also think it was harder on me than her. I was so embarrassed when the owner came up to me and said " Don't worry it will all be alright, it will get easier with time" he was comforting me instead of Camila!! I knew that 5 minutes after I left the day care she was fine but I was heartbroken for longer than 5 minutes!!! Things at work are good for me and I think day care is great for Camila. She is learning to be more independent, I love that she is with other kids and she starting to learn English!! She is in Goddard school and we were lucky that two of her teachers spoke Spanish so they would talk to her in Spanish at times so she would not be so lost. I could tell she was loving school because every afternoon she would say that she liked it. She looked happy and I knew she was having a great time. Of course in the morning she would say no escuela (no school) l , no niños (no kids). This went on forever for a long time. In the morning she did not like me rushing her so she did not want to go and the afternoon she would always say she loved it… The only bad thing is that she has gotten like 7 colds since she started…
In March we took another trip to the beach. We went to Destin with uncle Jaime, Aunt Isa and cousin Paula. We had an awesome time. We rented a Condo on the beach and we had a blast. Camila loves uncle Jaime. She is always asking for him. In Destin she did not want to get out of the ocean. The water in Destin is very calm so she was not scared anymore. We never went to the pool, we spent the entire time at the beach. Destin is absolutely beautiful and we all enjoyed our vacation. We drove there and I thought Camila was going to be crying and wanting to get out of the car but she actually behaved better than expected. 7 hours in a car is not easy, even harder if you are in a car seat!!! She was fine, slept part of the trip and only like the last 45 min of the trip going there and coming back is when she started to get desperate!! I am not sure I would want to do it again for that many hours in a car. I think we can fly next time!!
Sometime in May we started the potty training. At first it was not so good, then she was starting to get the hang of it and now we are back to square 1. She does not want to poop in the potty. I imagine that eventually she will. Pipi is no problem but not # 2….. We will see..
Mother’s day was awesome! I got tons of gifts and had a great time. We got together with the family and had a late lunch. I keep on saying that same thing over and over. I have been blessed!! I had no idea of what I was missing. Having a child is the best thing that could have ever happened to us. I just ask God to help us and guide us to raise her to be a good person with good values.
Last week we took a trip to Honduras which is where I am from. It was the first time she would meet my parents, cousins, childhood friends, etc… We also took this trip at this time because it was my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We were having a party and it was a great opportunity for my entire family to meet her. We had an awesome time. Camila was very friendly to everyone and very sweet to my parents. My daddy was just so happy. She was kissing him, hugging him, she was just all over him. I talked to my dad this week and he was truly missing Camila, they are already planning their trip to Atlanta.. Everyone loved her and she was loving all the attention. Cesar got there a week later and when he arrived all the attention was for him. It was very cute!! My dad was no longer in her radar! then it was all about papito!!
The party was awesome. My parents renewed their vows and it was very emotional. they both looked amazing and it was great to see everyone there. We had about 130-140 people that were there celebrating their love story.
We arrived this past Sunday and we all still tired. Camila had a difficult time the first day back to school but on Tuesday she was fine.
Ok so miscellaneous things that have happened:
- Camila pooped on Cesar’s hand one day.. it was hilarious. We laughed and laughed..
- She is starting to say phrases in English like: Not nice mami , Don’t touch, eat , Thank you, Good Morning, water, she knows the colors and she can count to 20.
- She sings the ABC’s , twinkle, twinkle, wheels on the bus, and she loves ELMO. Mickey use to be her favorite , now is Elmo.
- She loves to eat BEANS and tortillas!! and I am loving it!
- She gets mad if she says something and we do not understand.. She gets frustrated and then repeats it with a tone as saying “ I cannot believe you do not understand me”
- She likes to go the park and she loves the swings.
- When she passes gas she always says it was daddy.. Even if he is miles away. In Honduras she would always say” mama pedito papa”. I think it is funny , Cesar not so much, Ha ha
- She is still having two bottles a day. She wants her tete when she wakes up and another one when she goes to bed.
- She has friends in school that she mentions all the time Jonah and Jeremy
- She does not like daddy to sing.. only mami… It is funny! SHHH papito, mami sings.
- She loves to watch RIO, Ice Age, Winnie the Pooh and Toy Story
- She is becoming more like me. The way she points, talks, moves her hands and fingers. I see her and I see me : )
- Favorite breakfast food are waffles
- Favorite color Amarillo, yellow
- Favorite snack Elmo breakfast bar
- Favorite ice-cream flavor- strawberry
- If you ask her what is her name she says Camila Cardenas and then she says mama Cardenas, papito Cardenas and Elmo Cardenas
- If you ask her how mami calls papito she says, muñeco and Cesar
- If she calls papito and he does not answer or pay attention she starts calling him Cesar or muñeco
- She wants to do everything on her own. I let her try and when she needs help then she ask which most of the time we have to help her.
Camila is a typical 2 year old. She has done her share of temper tantrums. She will always to try to get her way. I am in this learning process and I try to discipline her but it is not easy. At times I feel all I am doing is saying NO, NO , NO, NO… and sometimes it gets overwhelming. She is very smart and she tries to take advantage of me and I have to admit sometimes she gets her way!!
There isn’t a book that can teach me how to be a good mother but I am doing it to the best of my knowledge. I have learned that sometimes I have to go with my gut, what I think is right and sometimes I have to ask for guidance.
She has adapted well to her new life. Her relationship with Cesar is stronger every day. Every morning they share this “special time” while I am getting ready and getting breakfast ready. They snuggle and watch Elmo together while she is drinking her tete. It is so very cute! At night we all go to bed together and once she falls asleep we leave the room. This is like a ritual now. After her shower she starts calling for daddy so we can all lay in her bed together!
She is making new friends and I just love to see her play and smile. She is a very happy kid and we are just having the time of our lives.
I am sure there are many other things that are escaping me right now and I will write them as I remember. I will make an effort to keep up with my blog! If you see I am not doing it please feel free to nudge me..
That is all for now : )... Oh and before I forget check out the pics below.. I posted several pics per month since January....
